Elaeagnus pungens — Evergreen Elaeagnus permaculture

This is an amazing plant that fits right into a permaculture guild. It fixes nitrogen, and does all the awesome things I talk about in this video.

  1. Are you in the southeast US? I planted Elaeagnus x ebbengei 2 years ago in northern Alabama. I have only seen a few fruits also. The plant is doing beautifully but little fruit production. I am going to try planting other cultivars near it and see what happens. I saw a picture on the web of one planted in Ireland which took a few years but finally came into fruit production. I will be interested in seeing what these do next year.
