The best plants to learn are those in your own backyard. You see them everyday and have access to not only harvest, but experiment with growing and interacting with them. You know what’s been done to the soil there.
No class, book, or instructor can teach you like the plants in your own backyard can. And besides, isn’t that what you want to know anyway?
So for folks in the Bay Area, CA I offer consultation services — I come out to your land and give you the lowdown on the local flora. I’ll consult with you about their usage and propagation.
I also offer sustainable landscape/gardening advice if desired, either in combo or exclusive.
Rates: $75 for the first hour,
$50 for additional hours

Hey there Kevin, i recently left you a youtube message, but i’ll ask here as well. I live in Phoenix Arizona and i would like to do some balcony organic growing, i was wondering if you could give me a few tips on the best herbs and veggies (and fruit for the matter!) for growing in a warm, dry climate. The balcony is covered, and has direct like for the ladder part of the day, but i can easily shade the plants if needed.

Hey, Kevin: I had a great time at the forage walk on Sunday. It was fascinating to see how much food is all about. I had asked you about organizing a guided walk for one of my high school courses. I just wanted to check on your fee and availability. My class runs through the first week in May. No sense in me organizing all sixteen of my students for a day you cannot even do. I was thinking about a walk, maybe in one of your well known spots in Lafayette, followed by a nice picnic lunch.
